A group of Honor Highlander Choir students performed in a PMEA Contemporary A Cappella Showcase on Saturday.
The showcase featured 300 students from 19 area schools. Students attended classes with professional a cappella clinicians and the music producer of the Pitch Perfect movies, Deke Sharon, choir teacher Kris Tranter said in an email.
The showcase also featured Vocalight, a professional a cappella group from Dayton, Ohio.
Junior Callie Siefert is a Pitch Perfect fan, so her favorite part of the event was working with Sharon.
“My favorite moment was hearing about the actors of Pitch Perfect, since the director, Deke Sharon, who worked with all of us, helped produce those movies and had worked with actors like Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson,” Siefert said.
The showcase participants also performed.
“My favorite song we performed was “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” arranged by Deke Sharon,” Siefert said. “It was an awesome experience to sing with so many talented people from different schools,” she said.
The other Baldwin students who participated in the showcase were Gavin Barrett, Kelly Campion, Lucas Cormier, Ethan Green, Gianna Harkins, Josie Lang, Brooke Manning, Juliana Morton, Alex Myers, Ryan Priano, Callie Siefert, and Milana Valente.

Congratulations to the choir students who worked hard learning their music and putting on one of the most energy-filled vocal performances I believe I have ever seen!
