The girls competitive cheer team were named grand champions and earned first place in both mat and gameday categories at a competition in Bethel Park on Sunday.
Senior Leah Moeller was proud of the team’s performance.
“We communicated well throughout the performance,” Moeller said. “We all had the same goal in mind, and that is what made us successful.”
Senior Gia Tirpak said that they showed out and proved themselves as a whole.
“This is a well deserved win for the team. They give a lot of energy and want to show the crowd what they are capable of,” Tirpak said.
As the season progresses, Moeller believes the team still has some things to work on.
“We need to work together more, rather than individually,” Moeller said.
For Moeller and Tirpak, this is their last year to compete for Baldwin’s cheer team, and every successful competition is memorable.
“It means a lot, especially for it being our senior year and our last time on the mats,” Moeller said.
These team accomplishments will help build the team for the rest of the season.
“Our team goals are doing well at WPIALs and states, and making it to the final round,” Moeller said. “This competition let us know that we are definitely on the right path.”
The cheer team’s next competition is on Sunday at Butler High School.
