The Baldwin Valorant esports team defeated the online school Connections Academy 2-0 on Tuesday.
The victory lifted Baldwin’s record to 4-2 with two games remaining. It was a team effort, sophomore Joey Maiers said.
“In one of the first games we started working as a team and communicated well together,” he said.
Among the Highlander team members, sophomore Logan Dodd stood out, Maiers said.
“This was one of his best games so far,” Maiers said.
Dodd, in turn, credited sophomore Ben Neuhaus.
“The first match, I think Ben Neuhaus really stood out,” Dodd said. “He had a lot of communication and mechanics down, which we all kind of needed at the time. In the second, we all worked together.”
Dodd also recognized junior Braydon Parker, a substitute who saw his first varsity competition.
