Sophomore Michael Quallich placed 22nd out of 72 golfers in the PIAA Golf Championships on Monday and Tuesday.
Last year, Quallich placed 14th in states, and he knows that he has room to improve for his upcoming years.
“I need to have a better start on the first day,” Quallich said. “And this will come by playing more tournaments and practicing more and more every day.”
Quallich also said there was a family medical issue that was on his mind as well.
“On the second day of the matches, I was just not mentally there. I was more worried and focused on my family than I was about golf,” Quallich said.
But Quallich was still able to continue on and improve as the day went on.
“My putting was very good the second day, and I was able to fight back from having a bad first day,” Quallich said.
Quallich knows how important the beginning of the matches are to being successful.
“On the first day, you can always lose the match, but at the same time, you cannot win it either,” Quallich said.
