Video game company Atlus has released a new game, Metaphor: ReFantazio, which is its best game to date.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is a turn-based roleplaying game. It’s about a young boy named Will who must work with his fairy, named Gallica, to lift a 10-year-old curse from a prince of Euchronia.
Will has to assassinate a general named Louis to lift the curse.
At the beginning of the game, General Louis kills the king in hopes of ascending the throne. However, the king has other plans and projects his face into the sky with magic.
The king explains that he is not done ruling, and he gives the kingdom four months to gain supporters and find a king. By the end of those four months, whoever has the most supporters will be crowned the king of Euchronia.
Will becomes a knight to gain more supporters, but it’s mostly to get closer to General Louis.
Metaphor is fast paced, and players are given a timer to finish certain challenges. While this may seem like a bad idea, it isn’t.
The timer provides enough time for players. If a monster is weak, it can be hit without going into an actual fight.
The storyline features some of the best writing that Atlus has ever created, and it makes up for the fast-paced environment of the dungeons. There are also multiple endings to the story, some of which are more successful than others.
Players should get this game if they enjoy the Persona games but don’t want their character to be constantly switching between going to school and fighting monsters.
