Persona 3 Reload gets new extra content, Episode Aigis and it’s decent, but the fans shouldn’t buy it.
Persona 3 Reload, which was remastered last February, is a role-playing action game in which players fight shadows, a supernatural entity that only appears during the dark hour. The dark hour is a time anomaly that serves as the 25th hour.
Before players get to Episode Aigis, the game is about stopping the dark hour and figuring out why it exists. Players eventually discover the reason behind the dark hour and manage to stop it.
When players do get to Episode Aigis, time stops on March 31, 2010, and the members of the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad have to break it by going into a new place called the Abyss of Time, along with a new character, Metis, claiming to be Aigis’s sister.
Episode Aigis takes place a mere few weeks after the original game’s time period. It is about how some characters grieve for others who die at the end of the original game. The Abyss of Time shows the pasts of these characters before they met the SEES.
The extra content is decent if Persona fans want the additional content that continues the story, but the original Reload ending was perfect. The SEES managed to stop the dark hour, and the shadows disappeared. So Episode Aigis feels like a forced continuation of the original.
Players can play Aigis, the new leader for SEES, and the playstyle is slightly different from when players played as the male protagonist in Reload.
Faced with having to pay nearly $30 for extra content that includes costumes and Episode Aigis, Persona fans should instead save up for other games such as Persona 6, which is set to be released in 2025.
