Two Baldwin girls tennis double teams competed at sections Thursday.
Senior Julia Johnson and junior Chelsea Luxemburger placed fifth at the competition. Johnson said she was proud of their performance.
“We have a very good mentality. Even when things are not going our way, or we are not performing at our best, we manage to stay very positive,” Johnson said. “Chelsea was very strong with the net, and her serves were very good.”
The pair defeated Thomas Jefferson in the first round but lost to Shady Side in the second round.
Johnson felt they could have done better in some facets of the game
“Our consistency overall could have been better with our swings, and our communication,” Johnson said.
Also competing for the Highlanders were senior Emily Nowicki and junior Cayleigh Fitzurka. That doubles team lost in the first round of the competition.
