Future’s Mixtape Pluto, his 31th studio album, keeps his streak of strong new music this year going.
In this year alone, Future has released three albums total, including two collaboration albums with producer and songwriter Metro Boomin: We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You. Both albums were equipped with many features and well produced songs, so fans were looking forward to Mixtape Pluto’s release.
The album, which is 45 minutes long and includes 17 new songs, matches the energy fans were expecting.
Future has certainly established himself as an artist who stays relevant in the rap genre, and this album does him justice. What came as a huge surprise is that this album has absolutely no features on it.
Future is renowned for his collaborations and flow with other artists, with big names such as Travis Scott, The Weeknd, and Drake. Even though there are no features, the album works well enough without them.
The best sounding songs on the album by far are “Ocean,” “Plutoski,” and “South of France.”
Mixtape Pluto has the signature Future feeling to it, with most songs having bass beats and electric and lively lyricism. While this album is not close to his best work, it works perfectly as a solo album that will most likely end his huge year filled with music.
Considering that Future and Metro Boomin set the tone for rap releases this year, this album definitely lives up to the year’s standard.
