Suki Waterhouse’s latest album, Memoir of a Sparklemuffin, stays true to her typical style.
Memoir, Suki Waterhouse’s second studio album, stays true to her previous style while still including a variety of different sounds. The album contains a mix of upbeat pop, soft rock, and slower, dreamlike melodies.
The album leans more towards the dreamy, lyrical songs Waterhouse is known for, such as “Model, Actress, Whatever,” “Lullaby,” “Legendary,” and more.
On the other hand, some of the more energetic songs include “OMG” and “Supersad.” These songs appeal to a younger audience with their angsty lyrics and upbeat nature. “Could’ve Been a Star” is also a standout.
One of her hit singles, “To Love,” is also featured on the album, along with some other previously released singles. In “To Love,” Waterhouse describes the role of fate in love.
It could be argued that some of her songs sound similar. However, each one is still very creative and well-constructed.
Though Waterhouse has over 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone, her talent is not often talked about in mainstream media.
All in all, Memoir of a Sparklemuffin demonstrates Waterhouse’s creativity and unique sound. Though the title, which apparently refers to a type of spider, may seem strange, the album definitely deserves a listen.
