The boys soccer team lost to Elizabeth Forward on Saturday, 3-0.
Sophomore Carter Banderinko said the Highlanders need to improve on finishing shots.
“We can improve by putting the ball in the back of the net,” Banderinko said.
Junior Gavin Ries agreed.
“We need to score a lot more goals,” Ries said. “We also need to attack more on the sides 1v1.”
“Overall, we played good soccer,” Banderinko said. “We moved the ball well, created opportunities, and won most duels in the air and on the ground.”
Ries agreed.
“We were creating chances to score but could not finish,” Ries said.
Ries said junior Alex Weber stood out for the Highlanders.
“He won 50/50 balls throughout the game,” Ries said.
Ries is unhappy with how the season has been going, but he is hopeful for upcoming games.
“The season isn’t what we expected so far, but with upcoming section games, we need to win these two games,” Ries said. “If we play for all 80 (minutes), we can become a scary team in the section. But we all need to work hard for the full game.”
The team’s overall record is 0-6-1, with their section record at 0-3-1.
The team next plays at home against Ambridge on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m, and then the Highlanders play West Allegheny on Thursday away.
