The boys soccer team tied Blackhawk 1-1 on Tuesday.
The game went to double overtime, but neither team could score.
Senior Anthony DiCesaro said the team had some strong moments on offense.
“We created opportunities for our attackers to get shots off,” DiCesaro said.
DiCesaro also credited the Highlanders’ defense.
“Our defense and midfield also played well, winning most of the 50-50 balls and getting the ball out of our zone,” DiCesaro said. “Our back line locked down our side of the field and distributed the ball out really well.”
Scoring goals, though, has been a problem for the Highlanders.
“It’s pretty simple – we just need to improve on finishing,” senior Will Penrod said. “Putting the ball into the back of the net is our main problem.”
DiCesaro scored the Highlanders’ goal.
“I was using my speed and created breakaway chances, and I was able to put us on the board,” DiCesaro said.
Penrod applauded the efforts of Blackhawk’s goalkeeper.
“Their keeper kept them in the game the whole time,” he said.
The boys will play at Elizabeth Forward on Saturday at 10 a.m.
