The Baldwin girls soccer team shut out Hempfield 8-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Mary Vargo, who scored two goals, said Baldwin was aggressive on the offensive end.
“We moved the ball through open gaps and pushed up on the field, which helped us score more,” she said. But she also said the team can improve in the future on finishing better when they get the chance offensively.
She also said that sophomore Laila Ruvolo did well offensively, also scoring a goal.
“Laila did well. She had perfect corner kicks for us to score, and she kept our team composure,” Vargo said.
Junior Addison Hirt also applauded the team’s play on offense.
“I think we did really well passing,” Hirt said.
Hirt said sophomore Kelsey Meyer was another standout.
“Most of the goals were assists from her, and she also got her own goal,” Hirt said.
“Overall we did a really good job getting the ball up the field, and getting all the goals really paid off,” Hirt said.
The team’s next game is away tonight against Mt. Lebanon.
