The Baldwin boys golf team lost by a single stroke to Thomas Jefferson on Tuesday.
The final score was 202-201.
Senior Matt Schenk said the Highlanders could have putted better as a team.
“The team overall played well, but there were some missed putts here and there that would have sealed the deal,” Schenk said.
Junior Gavin Sakely is taking this loss as a good thing because it showed they can compete.
“We only lost by one stroke, so that shows that we are right there with some of the better teams we’re going to play,” Sakely said.
Sakely said that TJ played well off the tee.
“TJ was very consistent with their drives,” Sakely said. “They always put themselves in good positions.”
Junior Mack Dempsey and Senior Zach Auel both had good days on the course.
“Mack and Zach were on their games today, both shooting a 39,” Sakely said.
Schenk pointed out another strong aspect of the team’s game.
“One thing I noticed was everyone was hitting their wedge shots well from 100 yards in,” Schenk said.
The Highlanders take on Peters Township on Thursday at Valleybrook Country Club.
