Zayn Malik’s new album, Room Under the Stairs, gives listeners a taste of some different genres.
Malik hasn’t released an album since his R&B album Nobody Is Listening in 2021. His new album, though, is different because the majority of his songs are country, soul, and indie.
It’s pleasant to see Malik exploring new genres, since many people know him just for his popular pop songs.
“How It Feels” expresses the feeling of being trapped in a relationship that no longer works. The song is strong and his voice sounds good with this slower-paced song.
“Something In The Water” is by far one of the best songs on the album. It talks about a type of all-consuming love. It is definitely faster-paced than “How It Feels,” and Malik’s voice sounds much better.
“Fuchsia Sea” is a great song that is a bit shorter than the other songs in the album. The beat and Malik’s voice go really well together. It also talks about feeling trapped and “tired of the gray.”
The whole album is 49 minutes long with a total of 15 songs. It is great for listeners who are fans of different genres, but mostly indie and soul.
