As the heat rises, new summer drinks from Starbucks emerge, but the results are mixed.
Starbucks has been promoting the new Summer-Berry refreshers for weeks, giving customers a sense of anticipation for the drinks’ new arrivals. There are three drinks total for the summer line and all have different flavors because of the add-ins.
The first drink, Summer-Berry, is a sweet and bright blend of raspberry, blueberry and blackberry combined with water and mixed with raspberry popping pearls. This drink has been highly anticipated because it was the first announced summer drink, and the first drink at Starbucks to have popping pearls as an addition.
The taste of this original Summer-Berry drink is a light and refreshing blue raspberry taste. The popping pearls in the drink are a bit firm, and while the flavor profile of raspberry is prominent in the pearls, the drink itself is just too sweet, especially with the pearls as an addition.
The second drink is the Summer-Berry Lemonade, which is the exact same as the original Summer-Berry refresher, with the only difference being that lemonade is added to the drink. It tastes better than the original Summer-Berry refresher because of the slight tart flavor added from the lemonade, making the drink more enjoyable.
The third drink is the Summer-Berry Skies refresher. This drink also has that sweet and bright blend of raspberry, blackberry, and blueberry, but the drink changes its flavor when coconut milk is added to it. The Summer-Berry Skies Drink also includes the raspberry popping pearls.
The Summer-Berry Skies refresher tastes like a different version of the annual and most popular Pink Drink at Starbucks, but instead of strawberry flavoring they are using the blue raspberry.
Overall, the Summer-Berry drink does not compare to the other summer refresher options that Starbucks has to offer such as, the Summer-Berry Skies or the Summer-Berry Lemonade refreshers.
