Running out of TV shows and movies to stream? The Purbalite is here to help, with another installment of our What to Binge Watch feature.
Disenchantment is an animated series on Netflix that follows the fictional trio of Bean, Elfo, and Luci as they explore the kingdom of Dreamland and the surrounding world.
The show, created by Matt Groening, has five seasons, each introducing another part of the world.
The animation is similar to Groening’s first two shows, The Simpsons and Futurama, with 2D animation and “cartoon-y” fairytale designs.
The challenges mainly revolve around Bean, officially known as Princess Tiabeanie, and her wild family issues. Elfo, the outsider elf, and Luci, the personal demon, support Bean on their adventures facing ogres, sprites, imps, trolls, and other monsters.
The voice actors, Abbi Jacobson, Nat Faxon, and Eric André, who play the main trio have expressive and distinct voices that give the characters a personality outside of their design.
It is notable that the series does not portray very thoughtful themes, as it focuses mainly on witty satire and comedy. However, this makes it perfect for watching in the background, making it an easy and worthwhile binge.
While the show is set in a fairytale world, it is aimed at an older audience and features entertainingly crude themes.
Disenchantment is an easy to follow and relatively mindless series, providing an easily enjoyable show.
