Dua Lipa’s new album, Radical Optimism, is a refreshing reentry into music for the artist.
Lipa has not released a new album since March 2020, when she released Future Nostalgia.
Three of the songs on the new album, “Houdini,” “Illusion,” and “Training Season,” are singles that were previously released.
The new songs, though, are pleasing to listen to and easy to vibe with.
For example, the song title French Exit is a phrase that means to leave a party without telling anyone or saying goodbye. She applies this exit to a relationship and what it is like to ghost or abandon a relationship.
This song is upbeat and nice to listen to, and it is a good change from her song “Houdini,” which has just become overplayed.
Anything For Love contrasts Houdini’s popularity and is a short and straightforward song. The song talks about how most people demand that their partner put effort into a relationship, especially when they have been putting in the effort themselves.
The album overall is not really different from her previous albums because she sticks to making upbeat songs. But it definitely stands out from other artists’ albums because of her unique style.
