Baldwin softball defeated Butler, 8-3, on Wednesday night.
“The team has improved in every area of the game,” sophomore Kenzie Bowen said. “We had a clean defense and our hits were more consistent.”
Junior Kaylee Smolko agreed.
“We hit really well and had consistent defense,” Smolko said.
Specifically, Smolko and junior Gabby Jaquay did well hitting, Bowen said. Smolko hit a two-run home run, and Jaquay had strong hits all game.
The team did well offensively and “responded well against Butler’s pitcher,” Bowen said.
Butler was still able to score three runs by running the bases well.
Smolko hopes to finish the season strong at the girls’ last game against Peters Township today at home at 5 p.m.
“For our last game of the season today, we just want to end on a high note and continue hitting,” Smolko said.
