Most actors and actresses take many years and at least one iconic role to build a credible reputation, but Australian actress Margot Robbie has made one a lot quicker than others.
Robbie is young but has made many successful films and earned four Golden Globe awards.
She got her start in the series Neighbors in 2008, which was an Australian show, but her big breakthrough was her role in The Wolf of Wall Street. Here are three of Robbie’s best films:
Top 3: Margot Robbie
The Wolf of wall Street is a famous movie about business. Image via Paramount pictures.
The Wolf of Wall Street (2013)
The Wolf of Wall Street is based on the true story of Jordan Belfort – how he rose from a poor man to a wealthy stockbroker who commits fraud and then gets into major legal trouble. Robbie plays the role of Belfort's wife, Naomi Lapaglia, who supports him until he faces trial.
Robbie adds a unique and fun aspect to the movie with her young and naive actions. The movie overall is a thrilling watch, but the casting of Robbie makes the movie even better. The film probably would not have had the same impact without her.
I, Tonya is a movie about ice skater Tonya Harding starring Margo Robbie. Image via LuckyChap Entertainment.
I, Tonya (2017)
I, Tonya is based on the true story of figure skater Tonya Harding, covering her life with her abusive mother on through her role in an attack on her skating rival
Robbie plays the adult version of Harding after she makes it into the 1992 and 1994 Winter Olympics. Harding's opponent, Nancy Kerrigan, is attacked and left unable to compete in the 1994 Olympics. Harding’s ex-husband planned the attack and Harding later pleaded guilty to covering up the attack.
Robbie does an impressive job at showing her more serious side in this film. The way she portrays how an abusive childhood affects an adult is exceptional. The movie focuses on what Harding’s life was like with a troubled mom and how anger issues and depression led to the outcome in her life.
Although the movie does not follow the exact timeline of the events in real life, it is still an interesting movie to watch due to Robbie's skill for acting.
Barbie is a recent movie starring Margot Robbie. Image via Warner Brothers.
Barbie (2023)
Barbie stars Robbie and is about Barbie's journey to know what life is like for women in the real world. Barbie is used to everything being perfect and plastic in Barbie Land, but when she is offered a chance to live in the real world, she learns it isn't what she thought it would be.
Throughout the movie, she learns about misogyny and how unfairly women are treated in the workplace and pretty much everywhere.
The movie itself is detailed and meticulous, but the important part of the film is the message. Robbie does an exceptional job at delivering the message that women can do amazing things when given the opportunity.
