The girls softball team defeated Mount Lebanon, 4-2, on Tuesday.
The team was able to snap a recent losing streak by keeping their morale up and making the necessary plays.
“Our biggest strength was pushing through the innings and making the plays we needed to win,” senior Keira Platz said.
The most notable play of the game was carried out by Platz, who was catching in this game.
“Keira Platz threw a girl out at second, which was an awesome play. We really needed that and it got us pumped up and ready to hit the next inning,” senior Anna Schumacher said.
Sophomore Jordan Gerendash also stood out, Schumacher said.
“She was very focused the entire game and had many great catches,” Schumacher said.
Not only did the team field well, but Schumacher pitched a great game as well, Platz said.
The Highlanders hope this victory will give them the motivation they need for the rest of the season.
“I feel like this win is going to help our confidence,” Platz said.
Schumacher agreed.
“I am very excited that we won. It was exactly what we needed, and I am confident that we will take that win and use it as motivation for our upcoming games,” she said.
The team’s next game is today at Seneca Valley.
