The Baldwin baseball team lost 9-3 against Hempfield on Wednesday.
Senior Adam Ledbetter said Hempfield’s bats stayed hot the entire game.
“They hit very well and it didn’t stop,” Ledbetter said.
Even though the game got out of hand, the boys continued to stay with it.
“We stayed in the game even though they just kept hitting,” he said.
The boys feel they need to improve the team effort for future success.
“We just need to improve on our overall effort and approach going into games,” senior Dylan Lacher said.
On a positive note, sophomore Ethan Helbling had two nice hits and played well defensively, Ledbetter said.
Ledbetter and sophomore Trey Alario both had good moments as well, Lacher said.
“Adam had a two hit game and Trey had an RBI double,” Lacher said.
Despite the Highlanders giving up nine runs, their defense continued to stay solid.
“Our defense was actually pretty good considering the bad conditions,” Lacher said.
The boys are now 0-3 in section play. They will again take on Hempfield, at home, either today or Saturday, depending on weather.
