The Baldwin girl’s lacrosse team lost 18-5 to Moon Township in an away game on Friday.
Moon succeeded at double-teaming the Baldwin players, junior Milana Winowich said.
“Every time we got the ball they had two people on us within a second,” Winowich said.
Moon’s strong overall play helped them secure the win, sophomore Lexi Iwaniuk said.
“Moon had really good draws and they kept winning the faceoffs,” Iwaniuk said
The Highlanders did well during the first quarter, Winowich said.
“I think in the first quarter we communicated well and we had better passes and transitions,” she said.
Iwaniuk agreed.
“I think our defense talked a lot so we were loud and kind of messed with the Moon players,” Iwaniuk said.
Their defense has some things to improve on, though.
“I think we could’ve crashed better on defense. We let players get open and we didn’t have enough time to get back,” Iwaniuk said.
Both Iwaniuk and Winowich agree that junior goalie Addison Giglione stood out.
“She made really great saves and kept us in the game,” Iwaniuk said.
The Highlanders’ next game is 6:30 p.m. tonight at home against Penn Trafford.
