American-Columbian singer and songwriter Kali Uchis expresses her diversity in her newest album, Orquídeas, giving Latino fans more to look forward to.

The young artist started her singing career in 2012, and she since has made a name for herself in the music industry. Her newest album is her first Spanish-language project.

The first song on the album is called  “¿Cómo Así?” which in English translates to “Like This?” The song has a slow tempo but then gets a little more upbeat. It has the elements of a traditional Spanish-language song, but differs in the tone and themes.

Another standout song is “Te Mata,” or “It Kills You” in English. This song stands out because it is the most traditional sounding, and sounds closer to the song “Hasta la Muerte” by Eslabón Armado. 

Both songs focus on how to deal with the pain after losing a loved one. 

Overall, Uchis’s fanbase seems likely to continue to grow, due to her efforts to bring diversity in her songs. She keeps the tradition of Spanish-language songs alive, but also adds the element of modern-sounding music.
