The new Netflix comedy Players shows what happens when someone who opposes long-term relationships decides they want to be in one.
This movie follows New York sportswriter Mackenzie “Mack” Cannon and her crew as they all use different, complex hookup techniques as their “plays.”
Cannon meets news writer Nick Russel, who is known for his stories and articles on what is happening around the world, and she plans her “play” on him. It works out for Cannon, but she starts to actually like him, which isn’t allowed in their group.
Although the group is against it at first, they decide to help Cannon get with Russel. Their plans include stalking his everyday lifestyle to see when Cannon can “accidentally” bump into him.
The cast does a good job with the acting, although some scenes were a bit exaggerated. They do a great job with their characters when they make their plans to stalk the love interest, but realistically, Russel would have probably found out that Cannon was stalking him.
The plot isn’t that thick, but it does pick up quickly. The film is mostly just a fun, light-hearted movie with some genuine moments.
Overall, the movie is fine, but it’s not the greatest. It’s generally just a movie you would watch when you have nothing else to watch.
