The boys basketball team lost on Friday night against Upper Saint Clair, 57-52, meaning the Highlanders finished third in the section.
Baldwin started out hot, scoring the first 10 points of the game.
“When we came out at the beginning of the game, we went on a 10-0 run and made them call a timeout, which gave us a lot of momentum going forward,” sophomore Max Marzina said.
Going into the fourth quarter, the Highlanders had a six-point lead. But they were outscored 26-15 during the final eight minutes of the game, leading to the painful loss.
Even so, junior Nate Wesling had a dominant performance.
“Nate especially stood out,” Marzina said. “He had around 20 points and it seemed like he could not miss a shot all game.”
Despite the loss, Marzina feels like the team can still beat anyone going forward.
“I have a good feeling going into the playoffs because I know that we can beat any team when we play well,” Marzina said.
The team’s next game is today against Peters Township.
