The boys and girls indoor track team competed Saturday at Edinboro in a qualifying meet for the TSTCA championships.
Sophomore Mackenzie Bowen thought the team did well compared to previous meets.
“Overall, I think this was one of the best meets we have had this season,” Bowen said. “This was our last meet to qualify for tri-states, so there was a lot of pressure of meeting a certain time to qualify.”
Kenzie Hirt and Grace Wyse did particularly well in their events, Bowen said.
“Kenzie ran really well in her open 800. She was seated in the 5th heat, which is the fastest heat for girls, and she ran a 2:29, which is her best time of the season,” Bowen said.
Wyse did well in her open 60-meter dash, running an 8.7, which is also a season PR.
The boys distance medley relay and 4 x 800 relay were also successful as the distance medley ran a 11:58, and the 4 x 800 ran a 9:01. Andrew Winschel, Zach Lieu, McKinley Beech, and Alex Castaneda make up both teams.
Individuals and relay teams that have qualified for tri-state championships will run this Saturday at Edinboro for their last meet of the season.
