The Baldwin unified bocce team beat Brashear on Tuesday.
Both teams won a game, but Baldwin was able to win the “golden frame” tiebreaker, which secured the Highlanders’ victory.
Senior Rylee Glus said that the team did well overall.
“Overall we did really well with communicating and strategizing during the game,” Glus said.
Glus also mentioned the importance of their seniors.
“Bri Rodgers and Kelsi Boyd have been impactful with their leadership and skill for us all season,” Glus said.
Bocce Head Coach Victoria Sgattoni said all the players contributed to the win.
“Everyone played really well, especially our seniors,” Sgattoni said.
Alexa Meyers was a standout for the team.
“She is a great team leader and came up with a way to support both teams with season,” Sgattoni said.
Senior Eddie Durakovic plays with a unique style, the coach said.
“Eddie has a cool backspin that he puts on the ball to get good rolls,” Sgattoni said.
Even though Baldwin won, they still have some things to work on.
“We need to work on skill and aiming,” Glus said.
Despite Brashear’s loss, Glus credited their effort.
“Brashear’s skill and precise aiming were very good,” she said.
Baldwin will play against Bethel Park today.
