The Baldwin competitive cheerleading team took sixth place at the statewide competition in Hershey over the weekend.
Baldwin got off to a great start on the first day of the competition.
“Our first day on Friday, we went straight through to finals, which is really hard to do,” senior Brooklyn Lucas said.
Lucas said that the team did well as a whole and that their team bonding outside of cheer has helped them.
“We trust each other more on the mat when we learn to trust each other outside,” Lucas said.
On the second day of the competition, the Highlanders finished in sixth place overall in the state.
The cheer team already has qualified for nationals at Disney, which will be held in February. The team needs to focus on being more consistent and confident on the pyramids for the national competition, Lucas said.
