The girls swim team defeated Penn Hills Thursday while the boys tied.
Senior Alayna Kercher said the victory was an important one for the girls.
“The energy was really high because of senior rec. That was the key,” Kercher said.
Senior Dylan Lubarski was happy for the girls team for earning a hard-fought win.
“The girls did really well. They all swam fast and kept a positive attitude all the way through,” Lubarski said.
Lubarski was also happy with the boys’ performance, since they had been behind most of the meet.
“I was really surprised that we tied because we were losing the entire time, but eventually we were able to tie,” Lubarski said.
Lubarski credited senior Evan Stokes with helping to tie the meet for the boys.
“We were losing in the 400 relay until Evan was up to swim. He was able to catch up to the other team and win it for us. That tied the meet,” Lubarski said.
Lubarski thought that the team’s overall performance was strong.
“We did a good job at executing the basics and staying focused throughout the meet,” Lubarski said.
However, Lubarski believes that the team still has things to work on.
“We need to practice our turns and get better at timing our breathing,” Lubarski said.
Baldwin’s next meet is Thursday at home against Gateway.
