The Baldwin boys and girls swim teams defeated Carrick on Thursday.
Senior Dylan Lubarski thought the team’s performance was exceptionally strong throughout the meet.
“We did just about everything really well. I was extremely happy with our performance and the result,” Lubarski said.
Lubarski said the chemistry between the boys and girls teams helped them to achieve the winning result.
“I think one of the things that stood out was the sportsmanship amongst the two teams,” Lubarski said. “Everybody was really happy for each other and cheered each other on.”
Freshman Nathan Loshelder performed well in an event that was new to him, Lubarski said.
“Nathan swam the 500 (20 laps) for the first time and he finished the entire race. That’s really impressive,” Lubarski said.
Lubarski credits part of the win to the fact that Baldwin had more swimmers than Carrick.
“The win didn’t come as a surprise. We had a lot more swimmers than they did and it really makes a difference in the result,” Lubarski said.
Even though the team won, Lubarski still thinks that the team has room for improvement.
“I think we still need to practice harder and focus on the basics like starts and turns,” Lubarski said.
Their next match is Jan. 4 at home against Shaler Area.
