The Baldwin ice hockey team lost 9-2 against Bethel Park on Thursday.
The Highlanders needed some help defensively throughout the game.
“Defensively as a team, we played pretty badly. They scored eight out of their nine goals from the same spot,” junior Trevor Brain said.
Bethel Park’s offense played well throughout the game and overpowered the Highlander’s defense.
“They were able to get people in front of the net,” junior Joey O’Neil said. “They also were passing extremely well throughout the game.”
Despite the rough game, the team did have some positives on offense.
“Offensively we had good pressure but never really got any good shots on net,” Brain said.
Even though Baldwin lost, one player in particular stood out during the game.
“Raffaele Monaghan had his first varsity goal,” Brain said.
The Highlanders are looking to make some improvements for the next game.
“Next game we need to convert more of our scoring chances and clear out the front of the net on defense,” Brain said.
O’Neil agreed.
“We need to improve on picking up the guy in front of the net,” O’Neil said. “They scored a lot because people were not covered.”
The team’s next game is against Seneca Valley on Jan. 15.
