The Baldwin ice hockey team scored twice in the closing minutes on Monday to tie up their game against Canon-Mac, but the Highlanders fell in overtime, 5-4.
Junior Logan Cramer and senior Tanner Plinta provided the late-game push, junior Gabe Herrle said.
“Logan and Tanner had a goal each in the last minute and 11 seconds of the third period to take the game into overtime,” Herrle said.
Canon-Mac quickly scored in overtime to end the game, however.
Herrle believes that the team played a good game, but definitely has things to improve on.
“We did not get the amount of shots that we wanted, and we needed to come out of the gate harder,” Herrle said.
Although the team lost, they still created many positives.
“We had very good pressure in the offensive zone,” Herrle said.
The team definitely needs to play 100 percent the whole game in the upcoming game, Herrle said.
The Baldwin hockey team will next play on Thursday against Bethel Park at 7 p.m. at Ice Castle, where it will be senior rec for the Highlanders.
