The boys basketball team won their first two games of the season over the weekend.
The Highlanders defeated Altoona, 55-33, on Friday, and beat Chartiers Valley, 74-59, on Saturday.
On Friday, the team performed well from the beginning of the game through the end, senior Brady Lavelle said. Overall, the team worked efficiently together on offense, taking the lead early on in the game.
Both junior Nate Wesling and senior Nate Richards stood out on offense, moving the ball well, Lavelle said.
“Altoona did well scoring when our defense was open, but ultimately lacked what Baldwin had,” Lavelle said.
On Saturday, the team faced Chartiers Valley. The past two years, Char Valley has defeated the Highlanders, but Baldwin came up on top this year.
Chartiers had a strong start, but Baldwin quickly picked the pace back up with strong steals and passes, Lavelle said.
The next game is Tuesday at Thomas Jefferson.
