The Baldwin girls basketball team defeated Thomas Jefferson 50-43 on Saturday for their second straight win of the weekend.
Sophomore Jules Ott said she feels great about starting the season 2-0.
“It feels really good to get off to a 2-0 start because T.J. beat us twice last year. So I feel like it’s going to give us more confidence going into the rest of the season,” Ott said.
This was a competitive game and came down to the wire.
“It came down to the last couple minutes and we took smart shots and made our foul shots when needed,” Ott said.
Sophomore Laci Bernotas said the team played an intense game and kept pressure up throughout the game.
“We kept our composure well even after moments when the game got a little crazy. We also outworked them overall, especially with our full court press,” Bernotas said.
Freshman Lynsey Bernotas played a very tough game, Ott said.
“She defended well and made shots when she had to,” Ott said.
Although the Highlanders came out with the victory, there are always things a team can work on.
“We need to improve on pushing the ball up the court in transition and moving the ball faster on offense. TJ also got a lot of open shots,” Ott said.
Baldwin will play Belle Vernon Friday at home at 6 p.m.
