The Baldwin ice hockey team picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday, defeating Canon-Mac, 4-3.
The team had a solid overall performance, dominating most of the game even though it ended up being close, junior Trevor Brain said.
“We led the game the whole way, but they made it interesting in the third period by scoring two late goals to make it 4-3 with one minute left,” Brain said.
The team played a good defensive game but also had some positive takeaways from the offensive standpoint, he said.
“We were able to get to the net to score on our second-chance shots,” Brain said.
During the game, there were a couple of players who stood out.
“Austin Landosky kept us in the game with some very nice saves and Mack Dempsy was able to score two goals,” Brain said.
Although the Highlanders played well, there are some things they look to improve on for the next game.
“We need to be more consistent on our power play,” junior Logan Cramer said.
With this win the team has a record of 1-4, providing hope for the rest of the season.
“It was very relieving to get our first win and we hope to continue to play well,” Cramer said.
The team’s next game is Monday against Mt. Lebanon.
