The Baldwin cheer team earned a spot for nationals this weekend at the UCA Ohio regionals.
Both the mat team and the gameday team placed second at the event.
Junior Gianna Tirpak was satisfied with the team’s overall performance.
“Everyone put up a good fight and pushed through the whole routine to make it the best we can to earn a bid,” Tirpak said.
During the performance, Baldwin had good timing, and their front handspring-ups were also clean, junior Mia Polito added.
Freshman Rylee Ruffing stood out in the competition.
“I think she had an overall very good overall competition and performed well,” junior Leah Moeller said.
Even though the team put up a good performance, there is still room for improvement.
“We did good overall but there are definitely some things that we need to work on and clean up for the next competition,” Moeller said.
The team’s next competitions will be at Butler High School on Saturday and Bethel High School on Sunday in preparation for Nationals at Disney in February.
