Seniors Gabi Moder and Olivia Garofalo competed in the first round of the WPIAL doubles championship on Wednesday, but they were eliminated in the first round by Bethel Park.
There were 16 doubles teams competing in the event, with four teams from each section playing.
“We had already made it to WPIALs so I knew the competition from there was going to be extra tough,” Moder said.
Garofalo and Moder had prepared and performed well, Moder said.
“We had practiced doubles leading up to the competition in order to get ready for our matches,” Moder said. “We did a good job at communicating with each other about points and strategies throughout the match, and helping each other stay positive even when we were down.”
Garofalo made WPIALs for the first time, while Moder has been there several times before.
“I have made WPIAL twice for singles and three times for doubles. The experience this year was a little different for doubles since I had a different partner, but it went well overall,” Moder said.
