As the MLB season has concluded, the postseason will bring many great matchups.
Today marks the beginning of the MLB playoffs, with four wild card games throughout the day.
The first wild card series is the Texas Rangers and the Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays are a strong team and have played well all year. They have top-of-the-line pitching and hitting, which will help them dominate the Rangers. This is why the Rays will sweep the Rangers.
The other American League match-up is between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Minnesota Twins.
The Twins played in a weak division and the Blue Jays played in the best division in the entire league. This gives Toronto the edge to win the series two games to one.
The National League wild card games are Milwaukee Brewers against the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Philadelphia Phillies against the Miami Marlins.
The Brewers won their respective division and have looked good all year long, but do not sleep on Arizona. Arizona barely snuck into the playoffs, but they have some sneaky good talent, including star rookie Corbin Carroll.
The Diamondbacks will shine in the wild-card series, taking down the Brewers two games to one.
The final wild card series is a divisional match-up between the Phillies and the Marlins. Just like the Diamondbacks, the Marlins are a team that snuck into the playoffs.
The Marlins were not supposed to make it this year, as they have been underdogs the entire season. The Phillies have a stacked roster that will prove to be too much for the Marlins.
The series will end two games to one with the Phillies moving on.
There are four teams that have a first-round bye. They are the Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves, Houston Astros, and the Baltimore Orioles. The team that looks the best overall is by far the Atlanta Braves, which is why they are the favorites to win the World Series.
Overall, there are many great games to look forward to in the first round of the MLB playoffs.
