Michael Quallich tied for sixth in the WPIAL golf championship on Monday, earning a spot at states.
The freshman golfed a 74, two over par for the day.
“It was straightforward good golf,” Quallich said.
Quallich said he had some minor mechanics issues for the first six holes, but he straightened them out and essentially went par on the remaining 12 holes at Valley Brook Country Club.
The freshman said his experience at the course helped out.
“I was extremely satisfied with the course. It also helped I’ve played it before,” Quallich said
Players of the team commended Quallich for his accomplishments.
“I’m really proud of him. It’s a crazy achievement,” senior Brady Lavelle said.
“I wish him the best of luck at states,” sophomore Brayden Gremba said.
The top 14 finishers at WPIALs are moving onto states, with Quallich was right in the middle, tying for sixth. He will participate in states at the Penn State golf course on Oct. 16 and 17.
