The boys soccer team shut out Carrick High School, 9-0, on Saturday.
Senior Mikey Fry said the team’s offense was powerful.
“We did a great job of creating a lot of scoring opportunities and finishing them,” he said.
Fry said that Sulav Bhattarai and Chris Sandy, among others, made the most of their scoring opportunities.
“They did a great job of scoring on every opportunity they had. They didn’t miss many shots,” Fry said.
Sandy scored three goals, senior Jonus Ruvolo scored two goals, and Bhattarai, sophomore Gavin Ries, junior Abishek Sapkota, and freshman Angel Kadariya each scored one goal. Freshman goalie Eli Schuchert kept a clean sheet.
The season has been going better for the Highlanders, whose overall record is now 3-6. Senior Collin Belan wants this game to set the tone for the next.
“We need to make sure that we bring this same intensity to our next game,” Belan said. “We feel confident that if we continue to play this way, we’ll see more success.”
Fry said there are still things the team has to work on.
“We need to work on attacking through the middle of the field,” he said.
The team’s next game is away on Tuesday against Canon-McMillan.
