The Baldwin football team lost 49-3 to Thomas Jefferson on Friday.
After the first quarter, the Highlanders were only down by seven, but from then the game quickly got out of hand.
Senior quarterback John Kozar said the game should have gone very differently.
“We just looked unprepared on the field,” he said. “We need to take practice a lot more seriously if we want this season to go differently than others.”
The Highlanders struggled on defense and through the air.
“I need to be able to avoid pressure better and get the ball out quicker,” he said. “If we want to have a good season, it falls mostly on me.”
Junior lineman Cenzo Pacella feels that the game went downhill midway through the second quarter.
“We suffered a few injuries and the energy was very low, allowing them to take a controlling lead and never slow down,” Pacella said.
The Highlanders play next on Friday at home against Upper St. Clair at 7 p.m.
