Following season two of Bridgerton, Netflix has released Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, and its quality leaves viewers wanting more.

The series takes place in the late 18th century before the original Bridgerton story. It focuses on Queen Charlotte’s backstory and how she ascended to the crown and changed English society.

After being betrothed to King George III, Charlotte doubts the marriage and attempts to escape, only to be found by George. The couple is soon married and their relationship begins with tension.

Charlotte struggles with adjusting to the royal treatment and is separated from her husband. She begins to break traditional royal norms and visits him, only to be turned away.

The idea of race and how it affected social status is a heavily debated topic in the series and greatly influences Charlotte’s actions toward the kingdom. As she deals with discrimination, King George suffers from a rare illness, which he attempts to hide from Charlotte.

With the mix of Charlotte facing discrimination, adjusting to royal normalities, and helping George deal with his illness, the series is full of action and drama.

Charlotte continues to change the kingdom by opening opportunities for people of different races in the community with George by her side, showing immense character development for both characters.

The series balances the problems that Charlotte and George are facing concerning their relationship along with keeping the kingdom stable. The drama created between the couple throughout the series contributes to the plot, making their relationship more meaningful in the end.

The series keeps a fluid balance between George and Charlotte’s personal lives and how they rule the kingdom, keeping the audience interested.
