Lewis Capaldi’s new album, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, expresses the struggles of being able to move on from a past relationship.

Similar to his previous work, on this new record Capaldi captivates his audience with emotional and romantically expressive lyrics that people can relate to. Capaldi’s brand is focused on romance and the desire to love.

“Leave Me Slowly,” similar to “Before You Go,” is a thorough interpretation of the heartbreak that comes with parting ways with a significant other. Capaldi understands heartbreak and provides lyrics for his audience to cope with it in a healthier way.

In the past, Capaldi’s lyrics have been more on the melancholy side. But on this new album, while they still hold deep emotional meaning, they are more upbeat and less heavy.

“Forget Me” is a primary example of this. While still speaking about moving on from a lost loved one, the beat of the song is more upbeat and has a perfect energy, especially now that the summer is fast approaching.

With that said, he still keeps his original style with other songs, such as “How I’m Feeling Now,” which talks about being “consumed” by his emotions.

The album contains a good mix of upbeat and sad sounds, which speaks to Capaldi’s artistic ability and how he manages to balance these opposing emotions.

Overall, the album fits its title. Capaldi does an incredible job on relating all of his songs back to each other, all while emotionally connecting to his target audience.
