Park Jimin, lead vocalist and main dancer of the K-pop group BTS, has started his solo career with the solid debut album, Face.

The album focuses on Jimin’s experience during quarantine and how the pandemic affected him as a whole. It involves hip hop, pop, and R&B music genres.

“Like Crazy” is about falling in love and losing control over those emotions. During the pandemic, Jimin questioned his purpose as an artist as well as his love for performing.

“Alone” expresses the feeling of loneliness and wanting things to go back to the way they were before the pandemic. Quarantine isolated people from each other; this song focuses on how impactful the separation was.

A single, Set Me Free Pt. 2, was released a week before the complete album. It speaks about wanting freedom from the suffocating atmosphere of quarantine.

In hopes of connecting with people who experienced the same trials of loneliness and depression, Jimin was transparent about these issues.

The album follows the typical style of BTS. The band writes songs based on strong emotions and lessons learned from past experiences. The songs focus on connecting with the listener and include heavy topics.

The band’s musical style is diverse and covers many genres. Jimin’s album has its own feel, as the musicality has more personal aspects to it.

Although Jimin is focusing on his solo career, he still shares similar topics covered in the band’s songs.
