Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway is a movie based on a real-life incident in which an Indian mother fought the Norwegian government over the custody of her children.

The film focuses on Debika Chatterjee, portrayed by actress Rani Mukerji, who gets her children taken away from her by the Norwegian child welfare services. Instead of admitting defeat, Mrs. Chatterjee decides to challenge the system to get her children back.

Mukerji shines as Mrs. Chatterjee. She perfectly embodies the role of an anxious, restless, panic-filled mother doing everything she can to get her children. Anirban Bhattarcharya also does an amazing job portraying the role of the hot-headed and patricahal husband of Debika.

However, the movie suffers from a shallow and narrow perspective. Instead of focusing on institutional racism, the movie portrays the child welfare service officers in a one-dimensional light.

The movie has been criticized by a Norwegian ambassador for portraying the country and government negatively. The ambassador claims the movie is fictitious and does not portray the real case accurately.

Overall, the movie is decent and Mukerji’s acting will make the audience stay until the end.
