The Super Mario Bros. Movie is not only entertaining but will leave long-term Nintendo fans with a feeling of nostalgia.

The film brings the famous characters, Mario (Chris Pratt) and Luigi (Charlie Day) to life in a setting that does not actually start out in the game the audience knows and loves. Instead, the movie starts off with them in Brooklyn attempting to pursue their dream of being plumbers.

Mario and Luigi get sucked into a pipe and become separated, with Luigi ending up in another world where Bowser (Jack Black) is taking over. Mario, meanwhile, is determined to find his brother.

The storyline consists of many twists and turns, many filled with humor, and even a potential romance between Mario and Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy).

The movie is relatively simple and stays true to how many would imagine the characters would act, but it adds a more developed storyline. Black, who voices Bowser, truly gets into character and sounds authentic as the famous video game character.

The only disappointing factor that many fans will recognize is that Mario’s and Luigi’s voices have their Italian accents only briefly.

Overall, this film is worth the watch not only for younger viewers but all fans of the Mario series franchise.
