April 12, 2023
The Baldwin girls softball team lost 12-2 against Hempfield on Tuesday.
Despite the score, junior Ana Schumacher said the team worked hard.
“We all put in a good effort and worked as a team. We played hard,” she said.
Junior Keira Platz said the team played well on defense.
“Our defense was good. We helped our pitcher out,” Platz said.
The team wants to work on starting strong in the future.
“We need to start hitting during the start of the game and not later. We really need to jump on it.
The other team came into the game ready to play,” Platz said.
Sophomore Kaylee Smolko Smolko said Baldwin needs to remain motivated.
“We’re going to focus on playing as a team and keeping our energy up,” Smolko said.
Smolko said the team also needs to work on its hitting.
“We need to get more consecutive hits in a row,” she said.
The Highlanders’ next game is today against Canon-Mac.
