After five years focusing on creating EPs and singles, the band Elita has created an extraordinary debut full-length album, called Dysania.

While it is not too extreme, this album is certainly different from popular mainstream music pieces. The record strongly takes off with the track “Serial Killer,” which carries an upbeat and thrilling sensation.

The band is certainly drifting off from their previous works, such as their first single “I Hate Everyone but You” and even their previous EP “Sick Girl.” In the past, Elita has been more of a soft and chill band for more of a broad audience. Similar to Melanie Martinez, they used to have sort of a “dollhouse” image.

Now, Elita has deviated from their former work and reinvented themselves. The band has developed a broad tracklist for many feelings, adapting for multiple audiences.

The definition of Dysania is the inability to leave one’s bed, which ties into the track “Sleep Paralysis.” Focusing on modern problems such as intrusive thoughts and the inability to sleep, the song synchronizes with the album title’s hidden meaning.

While in some parts of the album, one might think the words can be considered macabre and even inappropriate, some other songs are more laid back. Tracks such as “It’s a Joke” and “Summer Song” hold more of an optimistic and lighthearted tone.

Overall, the album is an incredible interpretation of this band’s unique ideas, boosting their new image, while exposing them to new audiences and popularity within the musical industry.
