The girls lacrosse fell to Peters Township 17-1 on Wednesday.

“The game started out rough as the first half is always when we struggle. But towards the end I think we got down on ourselves yet still kept our determination high,” sophomore Alexa Sherman said.

Peters Township had an advantage due to its experience and speed.

Peters “had really quick passes and knew how to play around our defense, which put us at a disadvantage,” Sherman said. “They also had really fast transitions down the field, which made it easy for them to get a breakaway.”

The Highlanders could improve on transitions from defense to offense as that is where they lost the ball, Sherman said. However, communication and defense improved toward the end.

Sherman said senior Eva Semieraro was always open as an outlet during this game and challenged to goal as much as she could.

“I think the team has struggled from the beginning of our season as we’re getting down on ourselves. But the more we work, we have the potential to be as good as the teams we’re playing against,” Sherman said.

The team’s next game is on Wednesday against Norwin.
