Baseball loses to Norwin
April 4, 2023
The Baldwin boys baseball team lost to Norwin 10-5 on Tuesday. It was the boy’s first section game of the season.
Going into the seventh inning, the boys were down by seven runs, but put up a late fight with seniors Carson Chapel and Christian Forgacs hitting back-to-back home runs.
For the first section game of the year, the players saw areas they need to improve on before the bulk of the season gets underway. Forgacs thought it was a little bit of everything they needed to be better on.
“We aren’t satisfied at all with that game,” he said.
Junior Brady Lavelle thought they needed to have better at bats to get a couple streaks of hits to boost the team.
“We need to have a better approach to our at-bats,” he said. “We also play very carelessly sometimes, and that needs to be cleaned up.”
They both agreed that Norwin had some really big-time hits throughout the game.
“It was nothing we couldn’t outwork,” Forgacs said. “I think we beat ourselves.”
Forgacs thought they did have some good hits but had a few missed opportunities.
“We hit the ball well,” he said. “We still left too many runners on base.”
Both players agreed that Chapel played a good game and gave them some boosts throughout the game.
The team plays next on Wednesday at Norwin at 4.
